Bill Higgins is
a retired steelworker from Michigan. He visited Bisbee in 99, fell in love with
the town and bought a house on Garden Avenue. He moved here permanently in
2001. He has managed to keep himself entertained by acting with BOP,
volunteering at the now defunct Migrant Rescue Center in Naco, Sonora and
sitting in Grassy Park watching life unfold around him.
He was a union
steward and activist at Great Lakes Steel in Ecorse, Michigan where he
worked as a Blacksmith and a Machinist. He helped implement a cooperative
partnership between the the company and the United Steel Workers of America
which kept the company in business through hard economic times.
He has been living
in Brewery Gulch for the last ten years and thinks he lives in the best
neighborhood in Bisbee.
