Annual Chocolate Tasting Fundraiser 2023
On behalf of The Friends of the Copper Queen Library, I wanted to let you all to know that the 32nd Annual Bisbee Chocolate Tasting, planned for February 11, 2023, has been cancelled.
We are heartbroken, as we know that so many in the community enjoy coming out for this iconic Bisbee event, but between the Health Department requirements and concerns about the spread of COVID, putting on a live event of this magnitude, based on home-baked food, is just not feasible. Thanks to all of you who stepped up and responded to our call for bakers and volunteers over the past two weeks – we so appreciate your support.
Moving forward, we will be brainstorming new opportunities to raise funds to support free programming at our award-winning Copper Queen Library, so stay tuned. Happy New Year to all!
The Friends of the Copper Queen Library
The Friends of the Copper Queen Library is an all-volunteer, 501(c)3 organization that supports the library by purchasing library materials and sponsoring activities and events, which include, but not limited to:
- Preschool Story Hour, every Friday morning at 10:30 AM
- Summer Reading Program, Wednesday mornings in June and July
- Arizona Humanities' Lecture and Travelling Road Scholar Series
- Feature Films and Documentaries screened at the Bisbee Royale every second Wednesday of the month
- Freewrite, a ten-week creative writing workshop facilitated by James Coull @(Model.BulletStyle == CivicPlus.Entities.Modules.Layout.Enums.BulletStyle.Decimal ? "ol" : "ul")>
Annual Altered Books Show and Silent Auction Fundraiser
Held in late August, our annual Altered Books silent auction showcases the creative spirit of artists from our area. All artists are welcome to contribute their original altered book. We will hold a free public reception at Central School Project to view the pieces in person and an online auction for purchasing your favorite. All proceeds benefit programming and materials at Copper Queen Library.
All Memberships to The Friends of the Copper Queen Library include a subscription to their quarterly newsletter, Among Friends. All new and renewed memberships are listed in the newsletter. Sustaining Memberships include your name on the Sustaining Friends Plaque displayed in the Library.
Many Volunteers are needed to help The Friends in their two big fundraisers, The Chocolate Tasting and Altered Books Show and Silent Auction. And The Friends' Bookstore can always use volunteers to work a shift or two a week.
